The Gospel for All | Acts 10:1-48 The Gentile Inclusion

Acts 10:1-48

Matthew 27:51 // Ephesians 2:14

“The fundamental emphasis of the Cornelius story is that, since God does not make distinctions in His new society, we must not make them either… racism, nationalism, tribalism, social and cultural snobbery… All such discrimination is inexcusable… in the Christian community it is both an obscenity (because offensive to human dignity) and a blasphemy (because offensive to God who accepts all who repent and believe.)”
— John Stott

Lessons Learned from the Conversion of Cornelius:

1) No one is righteous before God on their own but everyone is reachable with salvation by grace alone.

Isaiah 64:6 // Ephesians 2:8-9 // Romans 5:6-8

2) The gospel is not merely about adherence to a new religion; it’s an invitation to receive God’s only sufficient means of reconciliation: Jesus Christ.

Galatians 2:15-16

3) The gentile inclusion teaches us to expect God to save the unexpected.

Romans 9:23-26

4) True faith always goes publicbaptism follows belief.

Acts 2:36-38 // Galatians 3:23-27 // Romans 6:3-4
