The Gospel for All | Acts 11:19-30 Living Up to Our Label
Acts 11:19-30
“The gospel is not a doctrine of the tongue, but of life. It cannot be grasped by reason and memory only, but it is fully understood when it possesses the whole soul and penetrates to the inner recesses of the heart.” — John Calvin
The ‘Christian’ label was given not just based on belief in Jesus but a lifestyle of discipleship– being told the gospel, taught to obey it, eager to tell and faithful to teach others as well.
1) Christians never graduate from needing to be told the gospel.
1 Corinthians 15:1 // Philippians 3:1 // 2 Peter 1:12
2) Christians highly prioritize being taught to be faithful to Christ in all of life.
Matthew 28:20 // Colossians 1:28 // Philippians 1:27 // 2 Timothy 3:16-17
3) Christians naturally tell others about the hope available in Jesus.
1 Peter 3:15
4) Christian maturity looks like teaching others to follow Christ with us.
2 Timothy 2:2
