No Place Left | God Ordained Storms (Acts 27:1-38)

Acts 27:1-38

Turbulent times are inevitable in a fallen world, but God ordains them to accomplish His purposes that could not be accomplished any other way.

Proverbs 16:4; Genesis 50:20; Romans 8:28; James 1:2-4; 1 Peter 4:12

“God delights to increase the faith of His children. We ought, instead of wanting no trials before victory, no exercise for patience, to be willing to take them from God’s hands as a means. Trials, obstacles, difficulties and sometimes defeats, are the very food of faith.” — George Mueller

Reasons God Sends Storms:

1) To open the ears of those who are slow to listen

Psalm 119:71; Hebrews 12:5-11

2) To reveal the compelling faith of His people

1 Peter 1:6-7; Daniel 3:16-18, 28

3) To showcase His mercy and bring sinners to repentance

Jonah 1:4-6, 11-12; Titus 3:3-5

4) To loosen our grip on worldly things

Luke 12:15-21; Hebrews 12:1

“Do I learn through dark providences, or simply seem relieved when they are over?” — Sinclair Ferguson
