Judges | God’s Faithfulness to Unfaithful People (6:1-10 — Responding to Divine Discipline)

Judges 6:1-10

“Only if your god can challenge you will you know that you worship the real God and not a figment of your imagination… If your god never disagrees with you, you might just be worshiping an idealized version of yourself.” — Tim Keller

Sometimes the most loving thing God can do for us is to discipline us by withholding His blessing.

Revelation 3:19; Psalm 119:67,71,75

Trials are not always the punitive result of sin, but they are always a good opportunity to examine ourselves and repent if necessary.

1 Corinthians 11:27-32

2 Responses to Sin’s Consequences (2 Corinthians 7:8-11):

Worldly Grief = Self-Centered Regret —> Death

Godly Grief = God-Focused Repentance —> Life

The greatest blessing of all is that God would withhold His judgment in favor of mercy- will we respond rightly?

Romans 2:4
