1 Thessalonians | A Healthy Church in Uncertain Times (2:17-3:5 — Satan’s Desire for the Church)

1 Thessalonians 2:17-3:5

“If the devil exists, his first aim is to give you an anesthetic—to put you off your guard.” — C.S. Lewis

Satan, the devil, as God’s enemy is an adversary, tempter, and accuser of God’s people.

2 Corinthians 2:11; John 10:10; Matthew 13:19; Revelation 12:10

Satan seeks to separate believers from the relationships and ministry through which God intends to strengthen them.

Ephesians 4:11–16; Hebrews 3:12–13; Hebrews 10:24–25

But…

God uses even affliction and spiritual warfare to thwart the schemes of the devil, and strengthen the resolve of His church!

James 1:2–4; 1 Peter 1:6–7; Acts 2:23
